MMHS facilities are nestled in southern Monterey County in the bountiful Salinas Valley. Dubbed the “salad bowl of the nation” by John Steinbeck the valley begins just south of San Ardo, framed by the inner coastal ranges of the Santa Lucia range to the west and the Gablian Range to the east, with the northern reaches ending at the mouth of the Salinas River at Monterey Bay.
The towns of King City and Greenfield are about an hour’s drive from the Monterey Peninsula; world-famous for its scenery, beaches, wines, the renowned Monterey Bay Aquarium, Cannery Row and more. With so much right in our backyard, many adventures await you and your family.
King City is a friendly town with a number of organizations and service clubs such as Rotary, Young Farmers, Knights of Columbus and Lions Clubs. The King City Public Golf Course sports a driving range and clubhouse. The Park and Recreation Center has two swimming pools, a diving pool, wading pool, water slide, three indoor racquetball courts and tennis courts.
Youth groups include 4-H, Boy/Girl Scouts of America, Monterey County Dance Theater, Future Farmers of America, American Red Cross and church youth programs as well as a boxing club at our Recreation Department.
The city of Greenfield is a one of the fastest growing cities in the County. The area is known as a premier wine grape growing region due to the rich soil and desirable climate. Vineyards, wineries and wine tasting rooms continue to expand in the region.
Greenfield is famous for its an annual harvest festival each third Sunday of October. First Night Monterey and the Arts Council of Monterey County recently opened the Greenfield Cultural Arts Center located at 215 El Camino Real.
